They landed their next job but there was just one issue… the project required an excavator.įeeling like it was time to take Master Plumbing to the next level, Peter and Ian ventured to sunny Launceston, Tasmania to purchase their first excavator. It wasn’t long before Master Plumbing had other construction companies knocking at their door. The nursing home project kicked off the development of their now renowned and proven concept-to-completion approach to construction. They worked dawn til dusk with little more than a backhoe and an apprentice over an eight month period to complete their first ever industrial plumbing project. They helped the developer design the commercial kitchen, fire, stormwater and sewage systems.

Through their professional network, Master Plumbing landed their first commercial plumbing job – a 40-bed nursing home. This advancement still reduces project timelines and costs for their construction clients. One of their first initiatives allowed for larger volumes of pipe to be laid in a shorter period of time with increased quality standards.
They combined forces to solve this problem and established Master Plumbing & Drainage. They both saw a lack of efficiency in the practical application of construction methods, especially in large scale developments. It all started way back in 1988 when Peter Murphy and Ian Jackson, two plumbing professionals looking to solve a similar problem met at a Australian Plumbing convention.
